Your mind is messy BUT it is your mess...



It is a difficult to depict the messiness within your mind [see photo].... Ha, ha, ha.....


Perhaps the greatest challenge of your life is to truthfully organise your mind. When you get it right - for you - then you are happy. At such times you may feel special. When you get it wrong you are sad. At such times you feel empty.


For example. Imagine you are ticking-off yet another bucket list item with a stay in Positano on the famous Amalfi Coastline in Italy. If you have your messy mind sorted then you are happy beyond belief but if not then every single thing about the place irks you.


Here is some sense of the challenge you face as explained by the late great Gregory Bateson to his daughter. "Daddy what is a mess?" asks his daughter Mary Catherine. "A mess is what your mother finds whenever she enters my study. She tidies it up. And when I return I can not find a thing."


As an extension to that - "a mess" is what you find here-there-and-everywhere around the world and then proceed - without being asked - to clean up. This is why you can confidently claim "the world is in a mess!".


Back to your messy mind. You can leave your messy mind in the state it is in today or you can reorganise it. If you are having a positive experience on your visit to Positano then leave your messy mind alone. If not then, perhaps, you need to adjust it.


You have at least three options.


1] Leave your messy mind alone and take the ups-and-downs that flow from that decision.
2] Organise your messy mind to better fit the wants of others. Become a conduit for the hopes and dreams of others and pay the cost of that decision in your own life.
3] Organise your messy mind to best fit with your needs at key moments in time. It will be messy and out of control at times and much more focused and orderly at other times. You choose the degree, type, and resilience of your mind and pay the cost of that decision for yourself and those around you.
