You say what, when, how, and why

Spend more on quality and less on stuff.

In the post-2020 economy the consumer will be empowered like never before [see photo]. This "on-demand" economy will work on two distinctly different levels. First, most local services will be "cash only" transactions [these will be organised to dis-intermediate the credit card system and its embedded costs]. Second, most global services will be "bankcard only" transactions [these will be organised to facilitate ease-of-payment for consumers working with multiple currencies and SWIFT transfers but the costs of this process will continue to mount].

The current arrangements between the consumer and the provider are about to be reengineered. And these efforts will focus on the importance of labour in the process of buying and selling products and services. In the "cash only" system the labour content will rise. Meanwhile, in the "bankcard only" system the labour content will fall. Indeed any new discounts in the "bankcard only" system will flow-on from the AI automation of traditional labour-intensive processes. However any discount in the "cash only" system will be a gift to consumers because they avoid the bankcard costs in their mundane transactions. In addition these local "cash only" systems consumers can expect to see more labour involved not less.

In both post-2020 systems the focus of the revenue model will be on delivering better quality goods and services in response to "on demand" consumers needs. Thus consumers will see an unprecedented rise and rise of new brands in both economic spheres. These new brands will rise, or fall, on the trust and reputation levels they gain in the "on demand" components of their businesses.

Richard.
