You and your shadow....

Minimalists cast a unique shadow.

You and your shadow.

If you are a minimalists you can continue to cast your own shadow [see photo]. If you are a collectivist then your shadow is owned by the group you belong to and thus support.

When you control your shadow you are powered by a mind that addresses your core needs. When you share the control of your shadow with others then you are powered by a narrow set of wants as defined by your tribe. And this means that while you can move from tribe to tribe but that action will not convert your mindfulness from wants to needs.

Imagine you are walking through a maze of convex and concave mirrors. Your image will go be short and squat, tall and thin, top heavy and unstable, etc. Of course what you see is not what you expect to be your image. However. These images are more likely you as a member of a tribe not as of you as you imagine yourself. And so as the image of your tribe changes so does the image of you.

Your reflection is your shadow and if it is distorted by the image of your tribe then there will be times when you will be shocked by what you see in a mirror. You will not see what you know to be you. However. This is the real image, or shadow, that you cast outwards to the world around you.

Minimalism is a practical tool for you as an individual to check when, where, and why the shadow you cast is not what you expect to see. This tool is used to check your individual needs, and thus, the way you think, the habits you practice, and the beliefs you hold as true.
