Wokeness and depopulation...

We often fear unknowns but we should fear two knowns.

We often fear unknowns but there are two knowns which we should fear [see photo].

Let me be clear the woke movement could really improve the world if it had a positive agenda for life after the destruction of Western institutions, family units, growth economies, and individual freedom. But the truth is the woke are good at destruction not construction. And... because I am a dedicated "minimalist" you might think that I am in favour of depopulation but I am definitely not for reason I will present here.

First... Wokeness is a movement that supports "the collective" and opposes "the individual". Western societies promote family values, merit-based immigration, growth economics, limited government, and equal opportunities for individuals: therefore, it is not surprising that the woke movement is focused on destroying all of that. Wokeness is a known that you and I should fear because it can change our lives only for the worst. Wokeness promotes "groups" above and beyond "individuals" in all aspects of life. Wokeness is replacing families with government. Wokeness is an ideology propagated by "group think". Wokeness installs incompetents in positions of power based on tribal rituals not merit. Wokeness promotes excess government spending and waste. Wokeness promotes needless wars [Ukraine]. Wokeness is a monolithic force for destruction not construction.

Second... Depopulation is a real thing given the demographics of many countries. For all of my life the Malthusian theory of population growth has been a given. Malthus combined his understanding of economics and demographics to warn us that we could face pestilence and famine if population growth is allowed to continue unabated. However... Today the real threat is depopulation as the impact of low fertility rates and high aging rates hit some key nations. China and Germany are facing clear-and-present threats from depopulation and the impact of de-industrialisation that flows on into the broader economy. Germany is in the grip of an energy crisis with the dual impact of the Greens in their government and the roll-on effects of the Ukraine war [sanctions on Russia and the associated decline in the power of $US in energy trade deals]. Germany does not have replacement levels for fertility and it is top heavy with an aging population. Meanwhile the demographics of China is reaping the direct consequences of The Cultural Revolution, recurring famines, and the one child policy. Recently demographers have projected that the population of China could be half what it is today by the end of C21st. For a nation that is family based with strong traditions that support aging parents in their later years. This family-based welfare system will be put under extreme pressure. Also... clearly the workers needed to replace an aging workforce will be available for high end employment but who will do the dirty jobs? And so on and so on...
