Both Boris Johnson and Donald Trump are about to win elections. Why? The reason is that both candidates for power are "underdogs" in the eyes of their electors. The main opposition they face is the media [a one-think mob] and the Elite [a mob with left, right, and centre political biases].
For my sins.... I worked on a number of political campaigns in my birth nation and I learnt a little about these things. My most important lesson was that the number one issue is never what is "universally accepted" by the experts. I remember being in the middle of my first election campaign when everyone, yeah everyone, suddenly knew [for sure and certain] that we were going to lose. Being a noted contrarian I decided to look at that other possibility and to interpret it in a way that may produce success for my team. In the process I gleaned that the electors did not blamed my team for the policy outcomes that were claimed to be driving the opposition towards a decisive win. So I began to suggest that my team would win and win easily. In the end my team did win. In fact my team won a landslide victory.
Brexit is not the real issue for Boris Johnson. Despotism is not the real issue for Donald Trump. The real issue for both men is that the mainstream mob [the media and the power Elite] is intransigently opposed to them. Of course, neither Boris nor Donald can change the systemic biases that are lining-up against them. However. If both men continue to be "outgoing" [constantly on the move] and can be heard repeating "positive messages" [not mindless mantras] they will win. Each man will be seen as a modern-day St George who is pitted against a reckless fire-breathing Dragon [the mainstream mob - see photo].
Boris Johnson and Donald Trump will win because the mainstream mob [media and Elites] has totally "pissed-off" the voting public.
Richard.
