Who the hell are YOU?

The Bald Eagle in this photo is asking himself "who the hell am I?"

When you ask yourself that question you have a host of ready-made answers. Ha, ha, ha..... You have a kick-ass IQ. Your are full to the brim with Emotional Intelligence. You just "know things about people". You are the best friend YOU have ever had. You are the best friend that Eagle ever had. You are funny. Your are charming. You are good looking [of course]. You are humble. You are brave. You are giving. You are unselfish. You are a work-in-progress.

When I first tried to answer that question about myself I was led to recall a chapter in my life as a little boy. It goes something like this....

I always loved going to Church on Sundays with my siblings. I especially enjoyed eating the lollies I got from the shopkeeper on the way home. In those moments "life was good". But it all came to a screeching halt the day my mother confronted the shop keeper about giving me free sweets. Her reply was "but he always has money to pay for his lollies". Next she confronts me. "Where do you get the money to buy lollies every Sunday after the Church Service?" Proudly and with the hint of a glint in my eye I explain my method of giving to God and receiving from God. "When the plate comes by me I put in the money you gave me and I take out the money I need to buy my lollies".

That little boy is who I really am. As a young child I guess I figured out that you give all you have to life and then you take back a little so you can meet your most vital needs.

Richard.
