Minimalists will survive and thrive in the emerging world of collectivism.
To know where we are all heading we need to better understand where we are right now [see photo].
The language we use to describe where we are is simply misleading.
We are told that we are heading towards socialism because capitalism has failed. We are told that "diversity and inclusion" is the mantra for corporate success in the future. We are told that "black lives matter" and the police "should be defunded" if our communities are to become more coherent and sustainable. We are told that the greatest threat to life on our planet is "Climate Change" and we have about 12 years to resolve all the issues that this pending crisis will visit upon us all.
My aim here is to nudge the current description of the world around us towards one that will help you and me to better understand the challenges ahead of us in our lives.
The world is governed by collectives who hold and exercise power in China, Washington, and Davos. In China the Communist Party rule to the exclusion of all else because they can monitor the language, habits, and beliefs of 1.4 Billion people. Washington has a permanent bureaucracy who rule to the exclusion of all else because they can monitor the language, habits, and beliefs of 330 million people. Davos has formed a cult of corporate wealth who rule to the exclusion of all else because they run global entities that demand "group think" in language, habits, and beliefs for around 7 billion people.
Let me be clear here. I accept that an overwhelming majority of our global population support the rule of collectives. The US election of the Washington/China/Davos regime is understandable to me because most people believe in collectivism not individualism.
Furthermore, I suspect that this phenomenon will last for decades ahead. I expect that it will visit lower and lower standards of eduction, health, wealth distribution, governance, etc upon us all. However... At present there is no obvious escape hatch from this dystopian future.
Finally... I created my version of individualism - which I refer to as minimalism - to enable me to survive and thrive in our dystopian world. I repeat that this world is run by a new type of collectivism which is sanctioned by those in power in Washington, China, and Davos.
Richard.
