Last night I watched "The Big Short" once again..... It is an excellent preview of what we are living through today... One scene described what was happening in 2007 leading into the crash on Wall Street in 2008...
In this scene a group of the main characters were wandering around in a "zombie cul-de-sac" with For Sale signs hanging outside a slew of abandoned house.... All residents have left and the whole scene is apocalyptic... Social and economic systems in this locality have long since failed the families that lived there; and, the truth of that fact was fully exposed....
That crisis was brought to the world by the greed and hubris of "the collective". In fact the 2008 housing crisis was led by fraudulent lending practitioners who operated outside the "social contract" that had underpinned trust in the housing market for around 70 years. The "group think" of those who purposefully sold the world a wild mix of "mortgage back" financial instruments was a powerful antidote to those who sought to expose the truth of a failing system of credit and asset valuations.
But. That 2008 reality was "a mere bagatelle" compared with what is happening in March 2020.
