We are heading the wrong way....

Newminimalists remove the crap from their lives so they can excel.

We must turn around and head towards excellence.

In 2019 the global systems of management produce mediocrity and take us deeper and deeper in the mire of incompetence. The saving grace is that in 2020 we rely on advanced technologies, supply chains, customer interfaces, big data, and global scale.

In the first 6 months of 2020 we have seen how easy it is to shutdown a mediocre global system. The world economy imploded in the space of weeks, not months, or years. The truth is that mediocrity is a human element of organisations. However the impact of mediocrity on our societies has spread around the world like the Coronavirus pandemic. And the way we have treated the virus of mediocrity is similar to the way we have reacted to covid-19. We try to isolate people from the impact of mediocrity with barriers to the spread of it. But. We have adopted the notion that employees are victims and thus that they must be treated in special ways. More and more in-house schemes have been funded to make employees feel special and those measures have allowed mediocrity to spread and spread and spread.

It is time to jettison the mediocrity path [see photo]. We must start new entities that are on the excellence path. These start-ups will focus on customers, on clients, on consumers, and in general on those who pay the tab. And the tab must be more not less. These start-ups must provide products and services that can develop monopolies. They must inculcate a culture of excellence in a world that is currently intoxicated with mediocrity. Those who are mediocre will always compete aggressively with each other and that is fine. Meanwhile those who pursue excellence compete against themselves. They continue to push the levels of performance, innovation, creativity, and "use value" to customers.
