Post-2020 we will shatter the past so we can enter an alternative future [see photo]. It is an alternative future in the sense that it is discontinuous with our past projections of alternate states. We expected to look forward to familiar lines of continuity however the coming post-2020 future ensures that we will tumble into an unfamiliar storyline for human evolution.
Let's ratchet this riff down a little and begin to talk about some possible disconnects between our past and our near future.
The first one that might peak the interest of my loyal readers is the future of leadership and management. One likely post-2020 disconnect is that leadership will be a thing of the past because there will be no management structure as we know it. Instead the structure of our post-2020 world will be an AI system that replaces the labour processes that we use today. For example, walk through an Amazon "ghost store" with the bag you picked-up after you swiped your ID card through a reader at the entry gate. When you are finished filling your bag you just walk out of the place and then wait for the bill to come to you online at the end of the month. There is no on-site manager. There is no on-site labour force. There is no sign the familiar labour-intensive processing who help us to meet our shopping needs. Where is the leader, or the manager, in this Amazon branded world?
The post-2020 structure is information networks that use AI automation processes, 5G wireless data transfers, and huge data structures for decision-making at every level of an enterprise. So where is the human element in all this and what is he or she doing? What replaces the frontline, mid-level, top-tier manager is a sophisticated network of skilled facilitators. If you want to see a contemporary example of post-2020 facilitation work today then follow what happens at Cisco Systems [who make switching technology]. Cisco Systems run a highly efficient and effective collaboration culture. Cisco runs a facilitated business with "open-systems architecture" and thus it is able to quickly adapt to an ever changing series of requests that come in "on demand". However. With the emergence of quantum computing that introduces computation speeds that we have never experienced before we face entirely new challenges. Indeed we may need to a create a "cooperative culture" so that we can retain control of the AI possibilities it will soon be unleash. At the very least we will need a fast closed-loop system within which all data is shared freely with the "cooperation and trust" of the user because the system is tightly secured.
Over the next 10 years the jobs we inherited from the C20th will fade away. Of course there will be new jobs to replace the ones we lose; however these new jobs will not be intuitively sensible to us because they will rely heavily upon the imagination and heuristic facilities that most humans have had educated or trained out of them. To be a facilitator who can create a social community within a closed-loop data structured network you will have to learn, attain, and sustain a post-2020 skill stack.
The post-2020 world is likely to be full of fear for anyone who has been raised in a C20th system. Which means we are about to go forward into a constant "state of fear". And so the ability of every C21st human to adapt to evolutionary change is about to be fully tested.

Hi there.... Welcome to a post-2020 world. It is full of opportunities if and only we can overcome our fear of AI augmented systems. One way you can prepare yourself to take full advantage of the post-2020 world is to embrace what I call Newmininalism. Newminimalism will focus your mind, habits, and beliefs on personal needs rather than collective wants. As you enter 2020 you can gain a head-start with Newminimalism on your mind. Cheers, Richard
