The world has two realities: one full of joy and parties and one with death and destruction [see photo].
First there is the reality being played out at Keeneland in Kentucky [USA] where the Breeders' Cup Carnival 2022 has attracted some of the best horses/trainers from around the world. Today [Saturday, 5th November] is the climax with a race purse of $US 6 million with Flightline [perhaps the best horse since Secretariat] in the field. At Keeneland it is party time for those who love dirt and turf course racing. What a time to be alive.
Second there is a war in Ukraine. Thousands of troops are dying. Thousands of people have no heat, power, water, etc. Thousands of people are on the move away from Ukraine [Prague has received around 570, 000 refugees since April 2022] as this destructive war settles in for the long-term. There is nothing good about the "death and destruction" inside Ukraine but there is even more to this conflagration. Part of this war is the economic sanctions that have been imposed on Russia/Russians and the spillover impact of these measures is an energy crisis throughout Europe [including here in Prague] with price inflation on food, services, fuels, etc. For people in Ukraine [and many throughout the European Union] life has become a nightmare.
In Keeneland, Kentucky [USA] people are living a fun-filled dream this weekend while over in Ukraine [and many parts of the EU] individuals/families are living a full-on nightmare.
