Time to hone YOUR talents....

Newminimalists work hard to hone their talents.

Coronavirus shutdown is time to hone YOUR talent.

You have the perfect opportunity to hone your talents while you are in shutdown [see photo].

In 2019 you could skate through life based on your potential. Often people were hired on the promise that their potential to get better than they have ever been. These recruitment models were focused on your past performances as a guide to your current and future potential to perform at an average, or an above average, level.

That recruitment model will likely disappear in the post-2020 world. The new focus for recruitment which will be done in some new ways [more about that in future posts] in the post-2020 world. The focus will shift from potential to talent. And so I implore you to take some of this downtime in the global economy to hone your talents.

So what is the difference between potential and talent? The key difference is that potential is a possibility whereas talent is a reality.

Today you should be working [during this enforced shutdown] on consolidating your talents. How do you do that? First recognise that your talents are grounded by your discipline, purpose, and determination. Honing your discipline is expressed as a habit. Your purpose is honed by your thoughts and mindset. Your determination is honed by your beliefs.

Talent will become apparent to those who hire you, or someone else, in the post-2020 world. They will spy your purpose by testing how you shape your thoughts. They will evaluate your disciplined habits. They will notice your determination as they become exposed to your belief in yourself and others with whom you associate.

Richard.
