Time to cure Climate Change....

Newminimalists are prepared to battle the worst impacts of Climate Change.

The world must remain an asset for future generations.

I accept that we have a very real problem with Climate Change. I do not accept that constant "fear mongering" about this problem is productive. Instead, I feel it is my duty or personal responsibility [as a citizen of the world] to address the issue as a long-term problem. In sum, I believe this to be a C21st problem for which we must find a cure. Perhaps the word "cure" is not the best one to apply to Climate Change just as it is not truly useful when we talk about eliminating the Coronavirus. However. If we are to mitigate the worst impact of Climate Change on all of us then surely it is time to make a positive start on this project [see photo].

Here are my guidelines for action on Climate Change.

First sack those incompetent people in government [and there are many] who are unwilling or unable to set aside their ideological, or theological, mindset when they promote fear of Climate Change rather than take positive steps to address it and to fix it.

Second look for local solutions to issues and problems with energy production, distribution, consumer access, and cost per unit of power. Nuclear power [third and fourth generation units] must be built. If we can make small units that can serve a locality then we should start building them now and in the process establish a new distribution grid for base-load supply of electricity. Everything possible must be done to reduce the cost of reliable, clean, and sustainable energy distribution.

Third defund the wasteful public subsidies that sustain renewable ventures in solar, wind, water, etc schemes. These projects dissipate the human effort needed to save our planet from the worst impacts of Climate Change. Once we defund these wasteful and wrongheaded initiatives then the attached corporates, non-government authorities, universities, etc that profit from these subsidy schemes will wither on the vine and go away.

Fourth decide if the Climate Change problem can best be solved by innovation or government fiat. Those who favour government fiats will continue to pursue a top-down [UN, World Bank, Paris Accord, etc] agenda and it will be grounded by ideological perspectives about population growth, wealth distribution, global supply chains, etc. Those who favour innovation will use government deregulation measures to encourage local inventors to contribute their genius to a plethora of Climate Change focused projects.

Fifth people must decide if they are truly committed to mitigating the worse impacts of Climate Change or if they remain content to treat this as a cutting edge political issue that will lead to a dramatic reform of Western Civilisation.
