We are all often overwhelmed by complexity and most of us can not handle it. Embedded in complexity is uncertainty, ambiguity, and paradox.
Think simple is the best way to defuse complexity. However this is not accomplished by simplistic think. Simplistic think leads humans to adopt contingency planning in the face of complexity. That process usually begins with "what if?" This question leads us to contingency planning and thus to systems, structures, and mindsets that have many single points of failure.
Think simple begins with a critical path from the action. Along that pathway those who think simple create slack or redundancy within those activities not on the critical path. When we use think simple the key variable is context. Context enables us to identify what is important and what is not, what action is timely and what is not, and what outcome is important and what is not.
