The pleasure of being ....

Perhaps the single greatest human pleasure comes from 'just being'. It is a feeling that is difficult to imagine. It is a feeling that is difficult to replicate. It is a feeling that is prone to shadow banning in contemporary life. It is a feeling that needs no alcohol, technology, humour, entertainment, purpose, or sexual encounter to arose it within us.

How many minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months have you had the pleasure of 'just being' over the past year?

Some human find "the pleasure of being" in work, others find it in play, and some are able to combine work and play to find it [see photo].

It is possible that the greatest gift one can give oneself is the "pleasure of being". However, for those who live on smart phones this simple act can become a huge challenge. Meanwhile, for those who use lectures, seminars, TED talks, social media and the like to entertain their mind the "pleasure of being" can become a mirage, an illusion, or a delusion.
