The truth about censorship
Censorship is the act of restricting individuals in ways that force them to conform to the moral, ethical, or social dictates of a collective, group, or dominant culture.
In the early 1970s the Australian Minister for Customs and Excise was the chief censor. He vetted books, art, film, TV, radio, etc. His culture dictated that he ban certain books, films, and so called 'obscene' content which could be viewed with impunity elsewhere around the world. The 'collective will' was laid on individuals through the powers of the Australian Government.
Today the 'collective will' is still enforced by governments all around the world. However. Increasingly censorship is applied through algorithms running on social platforms and through the Internet in general. There is nothing new to see, hear, touch, or feel here in terms of censorship of individuals by Cliques, groups, collectives, and one-think cabals. It seems it is human nature to let a collective 'conformity of thought' rule the imagination and genius of the individual mind.
Today 'the collective' is afraid of its own shadow. This fear has led to more and more censorship of words, images, and deeds.
Meanwhile, the individual is basking in the sunlight of freedom.
