The digital future is over-hyped right now because it is in the T model Ford stage. At that time horse drawn buggies were still popular. From 1908 to 1930 the car made some progress but from 1930`s onwards this mode of transport began to change the way people live. From 2019 to 2040 we will pass through a tunnel that leads us to our digital future [see photo].
When we go full digital then lives will change in ways that can only be guessed at right now. However the talent we will need when we go full digital is probably identifiable even today. And here is the rub. It is not the talent that we currently praise and promote. Indeed the talent we will come to rely upon is different, it is rebellious, and it is highly creative.
This latent talent may well reside in your 13 year old son [or daughter] who spends most of his day and night playing video games. This is the kid whose parent is being driven to be hostile towards their own child. They are raising a child they do not understand and can not control. What they do not understand is that they are gifting the world its future.
First. The grand master talent in the approaching digital future will be different. These folks will think in images not words. I know it is hard to comprehend but it is their unique gift. They will see things that others do not. They will know things that others do not. They will live their life in ways that others can not. They will possess a clarity of thought that enables them to predict what will work and what will not in our digital future.
Second. The grand master talent in the approaching digital future will be rebellious. These folks will not go to College [it will be seen as a total waste of time]. They will not attend conferences or group think seminars. They will not tell stories about themselves, the past, the future, or life as a human being. They will not bow to the fear mongering of their times. They will not become part of the mob who clammer for change. They will not have a pressing need to belong to a tribe, Clique, or cult. These folks will be loners.
Third. The grand master talent in the approaching digital future will be creative. These folks will creative narratives. They will trade narratives. They will negotiate narratives. They will form images based on unique narratives. These folks will always be "free agents" in the marketplace for talent. They will come and go as they see fit. They will command more individual power, wealth, and status than we have ever seen before. Some of this talent will be good actors and others will be bad actors.
