The gap between digital and analogue...

The gap between our digital environs and our analogue brain [see photo] is immense and expanding each and every day.

Analogue systems [including C20th brains] are ill-equipped to deal with on-demand delivery of services. The analogue brain is geared to fight or flight responses to its environment but this wiring does not cope particularly well in a digital world. The reason is simple. Our great analogue brain has evolved to survive well with continuity. The hands on the analogue time piece [like the watch on my wrist] measures seconds, minutes, hours, and calendar days. But this becomes a "head sink" when we try to cope with the discontinuity of our digital age.

To help me cope with our digital age - rather than our analogue past - I have an iPhone which measures "units of existence" on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, Google, Instagram, Amazon, Netflix, etc. I know that some of you [perhaps most of you] have an Apple watch which connects you to yourself [health readouts] and [through an iPhone] to a myriad of services that are available on-demand. You may also have an Alexa unit which has become your slave [or you her slave] which exists to serve your every whim on demand.

I urge you to immediately address the analogue-digital gap in your life at work and at home. And as my regular readers expect I believe that the best thing you can do as preparation for your switch from analogue [brain] to digital [mind] is to embrace your unique version of minimal-you. Minimal-you is "a state of mind" that is a perfect match for a world where time is measured in moments [nano-seconds] of on-demand satiation or disappointment rather than instances [seconds] where you must once again consider your fight and flight instincts.

PS There is a lot more to say about the challenges of managing our on-demand lives both at work and at home but more on all this latter.

You can discover your unique version of minimal-you in ten days if you do three things. First, eliminate collective wants. Second, automate individual habits. Third, recreate personal beliefs. You can do it, but, you will need to be dedicated and disciplined to make it happen. For more on moving out of the slow lane in life go to minimal-you.com
