Work based on trust

The future of work is in peril because of the levels of mistrust that have seeped into global institutions. High levels of mistrust were introduced into contemporary workplaces via collectivism. Collaboration is the mainstay of collectivism and this process serves to paper over the cracks that mistrust visits upon workplaces [incompetence is opaque once ideology, and theology, replaces critical thinking]. Workers become cult-like figures who are willing to accept rising levels of mistrust and division within their workplaces. Some can survive, and even thrive, within collectives: however, for some workers the impact of mistrust is too high.


An alternative approach to the future of work is cooperation between humans, via virtual networks etc, based on the trust associated with a handshake [see photo]. Such "workplace

networks" will rely upon 5G and Starlink technologies to create a shadow system of work, commerce, community, governance, etc. Naturally, these new workplace networks can only exist beyond the reach of the 2020 world of mistrust, incompetence, wilful blindness, and fraud. The secret sauce for these workplace networks will be the individual not the collective.


In the short-term the future of work will be toxic due to the entrenched influences of ideology, theology, incompetence, fraud, and deceit. Collectivism will likely continue to dominate the world of work for a further decade: however, in the ethers that surround the darkness of that system the extended hand of trust, competence, integrity, and civility will reach out to all those who are willing to live, strive, and survive inside a new world of work.


In the long-term the future of work will be based on trust more than mistrust. The simple lever of change will be pragmatism. Pragmatists will eventually shift the nature of work, within any social context, from being the key mechanism for wealth distribution to being a rational system that rewards workers who deliver genuine use-value to individuals customers, consumers, and communities. Pragmatists will find clear air once the existing social contract for workers is changed to include a Universal Basic Income scheme in association with a single-payer healthcare system, etc. Within that context the post-2020 pragmatists will slash the size, reach, and power of governance at the community level and at the workplace level.
