Newminimalists welcome the C21st Internet.
The future of the Internet in a post-2020 world depends upon the effective and efficient roll-out of Starlink and 5G technologies. Starlink will increase the speed, and the bandwidth, of the Internet around the globe. Meanwhile 5G will increase the speed, and the bandwidth, of local Intranets around the globe.
I believe the future Internet, and Intranet, will become the new infrastructure for C21st living. Roads, rail, and telegraph were infrastructure developments in the past that helped reshape the human world. Now it is the turn of the Internet and the Intranet to take on that task.
Starlink will provide us with high-speed global links via a new version of the Internet as soon as 2021. Within a similar timeframe, most folks will begin to build a personal Intranet that runs off their local 5G towers.
Your home will become the centre of all human activity as it becomes a workspace, healthcare centre, education hub, business portal, etc. Local services [Doctor, baker, candlestick maker] will all come to your home to provide services to you. Yes the physical world will come to your doorstep. Meanwhile your virtual world will spin out from your garage, living room, backyard, basement, etc. This new way of being in the world will crowd out the likes of Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. as most folks become grounded in their homes, via digital technology, in the early to late C21st.
What do you imagine is the future of the Internet? Will 5G Intranets play an important role in your life? Will you fully embrace the emergence of local Intranets that can provide you with everything from a cup of coffee and chocolate-chip muffin through to day-surgery procedures in the comfort of your home?
The future of the Internet is coming at you fast so get prepared to be shocked or pleasantly surprised by what it can do for you and your familial.
