Halloween is a fun time right? But some kids are not having fun because they fear the pumpkin head. So who is having fun and who is full of fear on halloween? Those who fear the pumpkin head are the ones who are happiest because they go off and do other things. They may well take a time-out from group activities, group think, and being part of something that does not bring them joy. Those who fear not having fun are out with their familial, peers, and neighbours who are all laughing, joking, and belonging.
The big lie we tell ourselves [continually] is that we are either happy or sad. The truth is we are under the influenced of our fears or we are not. Fear is with us every moment of every day while true happiness is fleeting. So the biggest lie we tell ourselves is that we are happy.
We are happy when we need to be not when we want to be. But we can not accept that reality of life so we lie to ourselves about being happy. We cheat on our needs [we go to out on halloween instead of taking a time-out to be alone and happy] as we embrace other peoples` wants [those who love candy more than they fear candle-lite pumpkins]. When we embrace other peoples` wants we instinctively suppress our fears.
However. In our world today "other peoples` wants" are coated with fear not happiness. This is why all successful change programs are front-end loaded with fear not happiness. These programs are full of lies that work on most of us because they sync with the set of fears we have cultivated within ourselves. We fear death. We fear being rejected. We fear failing to be noticed. We fear not being an agent of change. We fear not being happy.
Ultimately we fear all the fears we have bundled up inside ourselves.
