The world of work is currently being dominated by digital systems and this creates a problem for the best talent on offer. Talent can be moulded into a system that is superior to anything ever seen before [think of the stonemasons who worked on the classic facades on famous churches, buildings, etc].
If you have talent you must find the perfect fit inside a system that supports your best work. Alternatively... create a workspace that lies way beyond the strict dictates of the current digital system. Let's think about this a little. Germany today is struggling due to a series of crisis within their systems of government, energy supply, big corporations, etc meanwhile the best talent is working outside the global digital system. The talent pool in Germany today is huge and it is amazing how many small firms are working at the cutting edge of invention and innovation.
Given the current dominance of the global digital system it is no real surprise that the most talented people have gone missing from workplaces. Talent is often disruptive, charismatic, innovative, and visionary and it is difficult to slot these individuals into a digital system that supports the collective. This means that real talent is purposefully overlooked while those who "go along to get along" [collective nerds] are feted. And if the system is operating efficiently and effectively then this lack of genuine talent is no big deal. But the moment the digital system begins to unwind then talent will become more precious than stonemasons were back in the day.
Talent is the next big thing!
Richard.
