"You will own nothing and be happy" - this has become the global crede for collectivism.
Hardware as a service is the first real attempt to shift away from the consumption economy. Money is being replaced by subscription for houses, cars, staple foods, etc [see photo]. When hardware finally becomes a service [based on a subscription system] this new arrangement will essentially remove our need for money and our access to ownership.
In this coming era of "hardware as a service" it is perhaps true that "you will own nothing".
Will you be happy? Those of us who seek to retain our independence [as individuals] will be no doubt become spectacularly "unhappy" if or when we are forced to live in a world dominated by collective wants with little [or no room] for satiating individual needs.
I am sustainably "happy" because I am a minimalist and as such I attend to my individual needs as a priority. This long-term life strategy enables me to pursue the short-term tactic of
reducing my dependence upon collective wants to a minimum.
Richard.
