Technology has aided us all tremendously BUT social networks have stunted our evolution [see photo]. Since 2000 we have become less and less individually adept and therefore social evolution on our planet has slowed.
We live in a world of sameness - a world of rinse and repeat. In part this is because we have been sucked into digital technologies that ensure we see ourselves as part of a collective not as individuals. Inside these collectives a man or a woman must redefine himself or herself to fit the dictates of the mob. Think this way not that. Curate these habits not those. Believe in this narrative....
Social evolution had been had won by generations who fought in local skirmishes and global conflagrations to forge a true sense of togetherness. The commonplace trait was that of an individual who could cooperate with others in his or her team to achieve a worthwhile purpose. This sense of togetherness came from the a place of trust. And this place of trust came from the values taught around the family dinner table, at school or Sunday school, in the workplace, at community fetes, and so on. In each sphere of life the individual was held accountable for his or her thoughts, habits, or beliefs.
It seems that we have lost our way as humans and wandered off into a nah-nah land of the social robots. These robotic people are not accountable, trustworthy, honest, or faithful. These digital facades without a clear and present definition of their purpose in life. These are images of humans going through the motions. These are people who lack integrity.
