Shortages...

Pushing towards an ambiguous future.

Energy is upstream of everything so we are pushing towards dystopia]. Perhaps the commonsense prediction is that in the short-term energy flows, food distribution, global supply lines, and standards of living will decline sharply. Therefore each of us is being pushed into this future that we have absolutely no control over [see photo].

The early signs that dystopia beckons is the imminent collapse of global systems. The folks who meet annually at Davos have lost control of their once integrated world system. The Ukraine war is an sign that our world is fragmenting. Perhaps... Putin is willing to march into Poland and its neighbours after he secures Ukraine. In broader terms the world is beginning to fragment on demographics [some have young folks and some have aging folks]. Global currencies are drifting away from a floating relationship with the American dollar. Raw inputs into the food cycle are in short supply. And so on and so on...

Build Back Better is a slogan that finally makes sense to me. It means to assemble a new way of taking care of individual and collective needs. That will prove a challenging project over the next 100 years. Meanwhile we can expect a dystopia that is local not global.
