The fact is that renewable energy is an intermittent source of power. The corresponding fact is that humans have a growing need [demand] for a constant, reliable, and cheap source of power. Is renewable energy the answer to our future power needs? It is hard to rely upon facts when one engages in any contemporary conversation about the role of renewable energy in our futures. Why? Because a "religious aura" has formed around the generation, distribution, and government regulation/subsidy of renewable sources of energy. Recently I saw a Ted Talk given by David MacKay that offers us a facts based argument for the use of renewable energy. He presents a rational discourse on the subject. Somehow he is able to set aside the Utopian/Religious views on this topic. Thought you might be interested to hear from David. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0W1ZZYIV8o Richard
