Newminimalism promotes *originality *discipline *creativity *loyalty *less latency
Latency is the delay between your decision and your action. In practical terms it is a layer of "inside or outside noise" that reduces your competence [see photo]. To improve your competence; and thus, to improve your chances of success you must reduce your inherent and inherited biases. If you can reduce the layers of bias between your thoughts [beliefs] and your actions [habits] you will harvest more and more success.
Latency is a complex issue for individuals [and organisations] because layers of biases are constantly added to our communication systems. These layers reduce the efficiency and effectiveness of an individual, or an organisation, to make rational decisions. And to learn more about this I suggest you read about the impact of the Abilene Paradox [see http://homepages.se.edu/cvonbergen/files/2013/01/The-Abilene-Paradox_The-Management-of-Agreement.htm_.pdf]
The Abilene Paradox occurs in workplaces all around the world each and every day in a calendar year. And. There is no simple fix for this complex "group think" phenomenon that distorts our individual decision-making capacity and capability.
However.......
The good news is that you can reduce latency to an optimal level if you focus in tightly on your individual needs rather than on other peoples' wants. Indeed the primary reason I developed a schema I call Newminimalism is that I found the Abilene Paradox appears on a regularly in my life. This happens because good-meaning folks focus on "collective wants" not on "individual needs". I am extremely pleased to announce that I no longer do that because I rely upon my version of "minimal-you" which is a state-of-mind that adjusts my latency to optimal levels when I make decisions as an individual or as part of a group.
