Productivity is important and yet it is impotent without creativity [see photo].
The future of work is clear. Work that is based on productivity [value adding processes] is either being automated or foregone. For example, today the mass media is a productivity based system/process that is packaged in such a uniform way that the consumer facing presenters look and sound alike while they read the same scripts. These scripts are most notable because they lack creativity. Meanwhile there are podcasters [Rogan, Brand, or Fridman] who thrive today because they present creative content.
The gap between productivity and creativity is becoming stark in 2022. In the least creative sphere on the planet [the EU bureaucracy] there are 50,000 employees who are set to gain a pay increase of 6.9%. These EU bureaucrats need a pay rise because they face the real consequences of the work they produce [inflation and economic disruption across Europe]. There is no creativity here and no one with a creative itch will gain employment let alone a 6.9% pay rise. What is our most likely future? Well that is difficult to say. But it seems most likely that productivity based employees will go on strike, boost the lines of those seeking unemployment benefits, and seek "social justice" on the streets.
The future of work and workplace belongs to the creatives.
Richard.
