The power of fear prevailed in C20th politics, media, business, global trade, etc [see photo]. Perhaps this is why brands prevailed since Henry Ford produced the T-model in 1908. The fear that a non-brand service, or commodity, would mean taking a risk. There was a saying in C20th that sort of confirmed this thinking is "no one ever gets sacked for buying IBM".
Brand power will belong to the mouse not the elephant in the post-2020 world [see photo].
The post-2020 mouse is a meme while the elephant is traditional marketing campaign content. The mouse-effect will be seen time and time again when brand power is revealed to be an lumbering elephant on the run [see photo].
The post-2020 mouse is not a new phenomenon it is simply being effective within a new environment. So here are some memes or mantras that have worked in the past.
Get Brexit done. Make America great again. Stop the boats. Hope and change. Those are all political winners. Think different. Priceless. Colours of Benetton. The best a man can get. Those are all business winners. Diversity and inclusion. Me too. He, she, they. Social justice. Equal outcomes. Those are all culture change winners. There are more examples but those will do to make the point here.
In a post-2020 world individuals and groups will rely upon the "streaming arrangement" they sign-on for to sustain their sense of being, standard of living, wealth creation, sentience boundaries, etc. Living with personal "streaming arrangements" will shift the emphasis from the tangible to the intangible and from the physical to the mind. In this world my favourite meme will be "THINK".
