ON SALE...

Minimalism is never ON SALE.

Minimalism is cheap at any price and that is why it never goes On Sale [see photo].

Once you become a minimalist you take yourself off the market. No one can buy what you have. That is not to say that what you have is not transferrable - it is. But minimalism is not a commodity - it is a state of mind. Indeed it is the real state of your mind once you can firmly establish the limits to your needs. Adjusting the limits to individual needs is an incremental process that every minimalist will spend time on each and everyday. Most days these limits will stay much the same but some days they shift rather dramatically. For example I might need to take up fasting so that I can lose weight; however, once I lose 10 kg I may alter my new eating schedule. This is a great example because no amount of body shaming will help me to lose weight - it is only when I decide, for myself, I need to alter my body shape will I begin to fast.

The amazing thing about a Sale is that it is all about the price not the cost. Even if the item is marked down [as the tricksters like to say] to below the price the seller paid for it this does not disclose anything about the real costs of this item for you. If you buy this item because you truly need it then it is a bargain at any price that you can afford to pay. However if you buy this item simply because you want it; and, you get it at a deep discount to the nominal price this is still not a sensible purchase. My rubric is simple. Pay the full price for items you need because they will always be worth the cost to you. Hesitate before buying any item you merely want because there is no price that makes this purchase truly worth it to you. The reason for that difference remains opaque to most people so I guess I must tell you why.

Few people know what they need. Most people can talk for hours about what they want.

It is likely that the prices for what you merely want will escalate dramatically in 2022 [this is because there will be far too much free money in the world]. Of course the prices for what you need will also escalate fast. The inflated prices on what you merely want will be a good thing because many of those items will be put beyond your reach. The inflated prices on what you need will also be good thing - these new markers will ensure that you hone the decision-making skills required to better align your need with your fiscal restraints. Hard choice will have to be made and making hard choices is the forte of a minimalist.

Richard.

The mind of a minimalist is developed on a unique sense of you which, in turn, is based on individual needs not collective wants. For instruction on how to establish your sense of you: go to minimal-you.com and hit the "become a minimalist" button in the banner heading. This will take you to a payment scheme for a 10 day programme that will teach you how to design, enforce, and live with mind filters: these help you to be the best person you can be.
