Oh my... What a time to be alive....

A new world is dawning.

Few people get to live in amazing times like these are proving to be. The old order of things is imploding and a fledgeling new world is emerging. My late grandmother and mother both lived through huge moments of change and they taught me how to spot what is important.

The most important elements in this huge structural change is that we are living through the end of continuities that have lasted for the past 200 years. The old continuities were based on faith-based morals, values, trust, hope, and integrity. However. What we are witnessing right now is the complete collapse of that old line of continuity. And as we might expect [it happens with any such structural change] those who belong to the past continuities are currently doing very well for themselves. They profit as the old continuity plunges headlong into disarray [fiddling while Rome burns].

So what is it that is so so exciting about these times? It is the fact that we actually are living through a time of complexity, ambiguity, uncertainty, and discontinuity. And the amazing thing is that we can see this structural change happening all around us. America is going through a rough time of change in DC [political turmoil] but elsewhere around the USA it is a beacon of light shinning on an unexpected future. America is energy independent. The US dollar is the only hard currency left in the world [the next financial crisis will see people flock to the $US]. The fact that America is not a huge exporter means that it will continue to outstrip China as an economic power for the remainder of this Century. Poland is an obvious emerging power within Europe as it takes advantage of the political and financial support coming from America. The EU project is imploding as Germany falters. France will attempt to lead the EU but that looks like a pipe-dream rather than a pressing possibility. Japan is emerging as an economic powerhouse once again [even though debt to GDP runs at about 250 % - see Modern Monetary Theory for an explanation of that phenomenon]. Argentina is the place to be if one is about to be born and to be raised in South America. And finally, Australia [plus New Zealand] is well placed to be a surprise success given it is positioned just on the edge of Asia.

But. Perhaps the most exciting thing is that most of what is being reported as news is "a whole lot about nothing". There is little reporting on the emerging line of continuity that shall take us to Mars. Little reporting on the work being done that will bring us amazing inventions. Little reporting on the our new findings on old age that may soon see the life expectancy of humans exceed 100 years for the first time. There is little reporting on the population explosions in Africa that is destined to create a huge new workforce for them and with that the opportunity to create great personal and communal wealth.

But the biggest factor driving this discontinuity is the emergence of Artificial Intelligence. AI is about to turn our world upside-down and inside-out in ways that we can only really guess about. And that is why, in large part, we are living through an epic time in the history of this planet. The current levels of discontinuity are equal to or greater than what happened in the 1860s in England. And that was literally the era of "Alice in Wonderland"......
