I have been looking for a narrative for a post-2020 world. To meet that demand I came up with notion I refer to as Newminimalism. At its core this narrative places individual needs above and beyond collective wants. When a human mind focuses on individual needs it minimises the ambiguity, clutter, and noise in the inner-voice that rules our behaviours, habits, and beliefs.
Newminimalism reframes a human mind to fit a world that has AI assisted systems, deliveries of services and products "on-demand", fast closed-loop organisations, and an expansive narrative for future life on this planet and beyond. My metaphor for a human who has a "newminimalism mind" is the mythical time-travel vehicle that Dr Who called "The Tardis". On the outside it presents as a simple blue police box with a red light on top which means it appears to be a normal instrument of human life. However. Step inside this particular police box and it expands and expands and expands which more accurately reflects the potential, power, and energy of a fit-for-purpose human mind.
Newminimalism is a narrative that both reduces and expands the inherent talent of a human mind. It reduces outside noise and clutter in order to enhance the internal mental power of a human mind. Once the noise is removed from one's inner-voice the focus of that mind will become clear, crisp, and empowered. Also the narrative that frames a human mind can be overwritten or rewritten from time to time to ensure that it is fit-for-purpose. Indeed, in the first instance, a person who adopts newminimalism will inevitably rewrite the mind tapes that run inside the mind all day and night. These mind tapes will be edited to meet needs not wants and that will create a very positive future narrative for personal habits and beliefs.
Newminimalism has changed the narrative for my life in ways that prepare me for the structural, cultural, and behavioural changes that will ultimately define a post-2020 world.
