You imagine you want to establish a whole set of new habits. Great. Good idea. Good luck with that endeavour.
Where does one start? The first thing you must change is your current thinking. If you can not change your current mode of thinking then your new habits will not last. Take a drug addict out or his or her environment and dry them out. Place them back into their old digs and they will revert to form and begin taking drugs again. And what is the strongest drug for your mind or engrained ways of thinking? It is ideology or religion. If your thinking processes are locked into an ideology or religion them your mind is on auto-pilot.
To change the ways you think: you must come up with new needs. Personal needs. Needs that trump the wants of others. If you can align your thinking to your needs then you can progress to creating new habits. These new habits will be supported by the ways of thinking that match your individual needs. And so you can proceed to create new ways of being in the world. BUT.... This whole thing is extremely fragile unless, or until, you have created a new belief set that is align with your new ways of thinking, your new habits, and your new ways of being in the world.
