Newminimalists are determined to understand the vagaries of time.
My time, your time, and their time is different yet we all think it is the same [see photo].
My time is spent waking, sleeping, eating, loving, traveling, thinking, money making, creating, destroying, dreaming, and surviving. There are moments when I am brilliant. There are moments when I am stupid. There are moments when I can hardly get out of my own way. Of course, how I spend my time is a personal choice unless or until I go to work. At work someone has paid me for my time and that means it is no longer my own to use as I see fit. That arrangement is contractual and usual. But. Today [20th June 2020] time is warped by social media and the people who pay for my use of their time on my phone, my computer, and my TV. During this time of a global Coronavirus pandemic and an economic shutdown the matter of who owns my time has become a fuzzy factor in my life. For example, the government has set new rules that seek to control the use of my time. Meanwhile social and mass media has sold my viewing time to advertisers who censor what I can and can not see. And so it goes.
Your time and how you spend it is none of my business unless, or until, you use it to harm me or my familial. For example, time spent rioting, looting, and spreading chaos in the streets of your community can, and does, spillover to affect people all around the world. When you choose to spend your time spent spreading fear and mayhem I find your choice appalling: however, what I find worse is the time choices of those leaders who do nothing to slowdown, restrict, or stop you. Your time spent on acts of anarchy are often being condoned by inept and incompetent people who control the levers of power.
Their time is spent.........
Richard.
