I live in Prague where the impact of the Covid virus currently is at a peak. Indeed for the past twelve months my life has been characterised by Covid imposted isolation - in effect I live like a hermit. My trips outside are severely limited in both time and reach. Today taking a walk that exceeds five hundred meters from my home is a contravention of the prevailing Covid regulations in the Czech Republic.
My life is wonderful because I live my life as a minimalist. I live a life full of purpose based on my needs not the wants of others. For instance, today I will write a blog on this website. I will watch some stuff on Youtube [currently watching Peter Schiff describing America as the next Greece recorded eight years ago]. I will probably watch a movie on Netflix [rewatched Margin Call yesterday and Notting Hill the day before]. I also watch stuff about my team Carlton who ply there skills inside the Australian Football League. And, as much as I can, I will edit my five hundred page sci-fi novel "the sixth dimension" which is so poorly written that I must edit heavily for the consistent use of current, past, and present tense; for the constant flow of thoughts; etc. But the highlight of this day will be my scheduled one-hour face time conversation with my son who lives in London [this is a weekly event]. However apart from the conversation I will have with my son none of the above is the reason that I live a wonderful life [see photo].
I live a wonderful life because I like to think. I like to probe my mind. I like to erase my stale thoughts. I like to create new hypotheses about my dreams, illusions, and delusions. I like to focus on my basic needs. I like to live a frugal yet expansive life through my imagination. For example, all the characters in my novel are constant imaginary companions even though I created them somewhere back in 2015. One character is the daughter that I never had but who can still make me cry salty tears when I read about what she has accomplished in her fictional life. She is my Alice in Wonderland even though her name is Jade. Most of all I love the fictional fact that she is preparing to go to live on Mars with the love of her life and while carrying their unborn child. Her child will be one of the first Martian citizens and that simple fact makes her deliriously happy. And so it goes for me in my mundane life as a hermit and in my imaginary life as the curator of exciting characters who are living a truly expansive life.
I trust that your life is wonderful too.
Richard.
