Minimalists live today and prepare for tomorrow.
The world is stuck in a rut caused by incompetent bureaucrats who have not been able to manage the covid-19 virus. Incompetence is the dangerous virus that has stalled the world not covid-19. Sure covid-19 is dangerous, especially to folks like me who are older and have adverse health features, but this threat is slight when compared to the incompetence of the people in charge of global, national, and local government. But that is the past.
It is time for you, and me, to move on.
Chip Wilson, the founder of Lululemon, has a good rubric for what I think of as "moving on" when he says if you see the same thing around you three times then you have your own reliable guide to the future. Of course you will never see these signs if you are not looking for them. I mean casually "looking for" not actively "searching for". Indeed Chip says he has a mindset that is about 7 years ahead of the trend we are all in at present.
Here is the thing.
Most people rely upon metrics. This means they are backward looking and thus they are tightly focussed on the past. They argue with established metrics against the innovative possibilities that a creative person [who is moving on] has on his or her mind.
I guess my main point here is that those who rely strongly on metrics are stuck in the rut of this covid-19 world. But. I suggest that it is time to leave that world behind you. One way to do this is to surround yourself with creatives who are "future truthers". These folks are all around you but they are being squashed by those who focus intently on metrics and so they constantly compare this with that and so on.
If you seek to "move on" then your best strategy is to become "naked to the future".
Richard.
Become a future truther by moving on towards some form of needs perspective. I think it is as simple as that. You will create a mindset that is inclusive of the creatives of the world and somewhat suspicious of those who push the metrics of the past.
