Minimalism can reset your mind....

Dial your mind towards needs not wants.

We live in a world that is in transition. Shibboleths that worked for Centuries are being discarded. The lessons from the past that we stored in our analogue brains are being put under pressure by our new experiences. Sometimes it seems as if everything that happened up until yesterday is no longer relevant and certainly not prescient for the future. Adjusting to this new modernity has induced a massive "brain freeze" for 7 billion people around the world. And so there is an urgent need for each person to "reset his, her, or they mind". Many have chosen to become part of a massive experiment in mind syncing as they join Cliques, cults, or group think movements. And clearly this is working for them as they replace the importance of the individual with that the collective.

The commonplace mind reset is being misrepresented as a sudden move back to the ideologies of marxism or socialism but it is not that at all. This is a genuine search for a new religion, spiritual essence, or long-term deity that protects the collective not just the individual. The social, economic, and communal movements seen around the globe today are about relieving the oppression of the collective not that of the individual. Mindfulness today describes "collective thought patterns" for groups not the "reflective inner voice patterns" of one. In the past a "state of mindfulness" referred to a peak of solitude [bliss] reached by an individual [a monk sitting cross-legged in a cave] not the current state of "collective will" which has a laser-like focus on the defeat of a common foe. So the truth about the transformation of the world around us is not a story about moving from analogue to digital technologies but a transparent hope that we can be swiftly nudged away from an analogue brain and embrace a digital mind. Therefore. Most of the disruption and confusion around us all today comes about because the analogue brain is stubborn and it refuses to bend to the will of what is surely an over-hyped digital mind.

The digital mind is a mirage. It is an illusion. It is a delusion. And it will likely remain this way until the next Century because it is not based on shared values, trust, and cooperation. On the contrary it is based on compromised values, mistrust, and collaboration. Indeed the framework and structure curated by the analogue brain over many Centuries has formed an impenetrable bulwark against the acceptance of a wistful mindset. This new mindset is based on wants [fanciful wishes] not on needs [ basic necessities]. This new mindset is whimsical and unstable. This new mindset remains in a constant state of flux. This new mindset has morphed into a potpourri of good intentions, greed, control, and symbolism. This new mindset is likely not sustainable at this point in the evolution of the human mind.

However. While the new mindset is being beta-tested you can find shelter and comfort in minimalism. Minimalism [as I practice it] will reset your mind to focus on needs not wants [see photo]. It will curate habits based on needs not wants. And. It will inculcate a belief set based on needs not wants.
