Mind-surfing a sea of change.

Minimalists are mind-surfers who change to cope with their environs.

Mind-surfing ahead of a mounting sea of change.

A sea of change is swirling within the minds of people around the globe [see photos].

There is anger in this surf. If it catches up with you with all it's furry then it will dump you and leave you mindless. Ha, ha, ha.

So anyone who enters these dangerous waters of "one think" and "group think" must be sharp and be able to mind-surf on the edge of this uncontrollable force of nature.

The mind-surfer is an individual. Indeed mind-surfers are always individuals even when a group of surfers "hang out" to ride these huge waves.

The skill set that mind-surfers need today are exactly those of a minimalist. Specifically the ability to stay ahead of the memes and noise [waves] that is projected by the collectives on social media via the Internet. The winds that whip-up these waves include the mind-funk that is embedded deeply in the algorithms that structure the outputs from Google, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.

If this mind-wave engulfs an individual then a state of mindlessness beckons for even the most intelligent, street smart, and savvy person.

Richard.

This week I had two days without the Internet. My modem failed. It was a great reminder for me that independent thinking is my greatest asset.

Once again I realised that when I spend time on the Internet I inadvertently put my individual mindfulness at risk. Every minute I spend on the Internet is a challenge to my sanity, energy, aspirations, and purpose.

In summary, my two day holiday from the Internet was a time that lifted the huge burden of witnessing and fighting back against "one think" and "group think" from my mind.
