Newminimalists have the mindset needed to survive on "the icy-blue planet Mars".
Getting to the icy-blue planet Mars [see photo] is no longer the issue. For instance, SpaceX has assembled the talent need to do this. These folks and others will workout how to chase this amazing planet across the heavens as it dips closest to us in its natural orbit. I imagine that the first payloads will be AI robots and the gear required to build domes that can sustain human life. These bots will be the frontline warriors who help us tame this cold planet and make it habitable for humans.
Neil Armstrong took the first human step onto the surface of the Moon and he opened a porthole to those who will follow him as humans begin to explore the outer reaches of our Universe. Human U, V, W, X, Y, and Z who first land on Mars will stay to create a community "out there". These will be the first Martian Citizens. They will become a new version of our species once they find viable ways to separate themselves from the teat of mother Earth.
The most interesting thing about Martians will be that they live inside just like all of us in March 2020. We are living inside right now and so we are learning about how difficult living on Mars will proved to be. Not every human being is able to live this way. Why? Because when a human lives inside [for long periods] then he or she either thrives or goes mental. Today we are being called upon to be mentally strong and to develop thoughts, habits, and beliefs that meet our individual needs. Indeed the mindset that enables one to live inside [in a bubble] will become a mundane asset for a Martian.
So if you are bored and restless because you are forced to self-isolate then I suggest you treat it as training for becoming a Martian. I am not suggesting that you, or even your kids, will become Martians but some future humans will. Those folks will read about these times. They will see videos, podcasts, etc about the challenges that humans faced in March 2020 when they were ordered to live inside. All these materials will probably seem quaint to them but they might also prove to be invaluable teaching aides for them.
Living on Mars may not be for you but it is a choice that future humans will make as they seek new frontiers, adventures, and ways of being. So I suggest that you "adopt a future Martian" by writing about the challenges and practices of self-isolating. This will become part of a primer for a future Martian who will also be forced to live inside a bubble and thus to exist more and more inside his or her head.
