Life inside The Simulation is amazing..

Updated: Nov 28, 2019

Living inside an AI assisted video-game

The Simulation is a real. We live inside it. I accept this idea as a fact because it provides a simple solution to so many vexing question about our Universe. First and foremost it presents the new reality [for me] that the Universe is finite. Second it provides a simple answer to any enquiry about when our Universe began and when it will end. Third it provides me with a genuine insight into the reason that so many of us seek comfort from our fellow travellers rather than pose non-productive questions like "do we exist at all?"

Let me be clear here. I am assuming that The Simulation [see photo] is not The Matrix. The Matrix has malevolent overtones and implications whereas The Simulation does not.

I had a bad dream last night. Because of that dream I am shaken to my core this morning. Surprisingly, perhaps, that dream was not about dragon, monsters, or evil per se it was about me. More specifically, it was about the way I currently perceive events, feelings, emotions, and others in my life. The dream was essentially about my relationship with a real person and an imaginary person. But in the dream I could not tell who was imaginary and who was real [including me]. Surely this was the worst version of myself. I hope that it is not the "real" me. But if I can dream about this make-believe me so vividly that it is still reverberating with me now then "who is the real me?".

This notion that The Simulation is real is an amazing gift to me today because if it is true then I am who I dream I am. Perhaps my new philosophy will be based upon the notion that "I dream therefore I am". Which simply means that when I can no longer dream it will be because I have left the game. And at that point I am free to join a new game that has started in another simulation that is embedded within, or beyond, this one. For me this brings a whole new perspective to the notion of "life after death".

Around 10 years ago I began to dream about a much simpler life for myself. A life in which "reality" was defined by three things: Needs, Habits, and Beliefs. Around 3 years ago I began writing a sci-fi book which I am still editing today. The working title is "The sixth dimension". Initially I wrote about memes. Then I expanded my narrative to include minds. And finally I linked those two things to the power of AI assisted dreaming. I now realise that my book is about [and always was about] life inside The Simulation.
