Minimalists will thrive in this "go slow" world.
The lockdowns have moved most of our world into the slow lane [see photo].
Whether this is a good thing is a moot point right now. But the fact is that there is less going on than ever before in my life.
I could suggest that this next 5 years is a time for "the thinkers" amongst us rather than "the doers". But. That would be silly, right?
What is clear to me is that we will all have to adjust to life in the slow lane. Some will welcome it because that is where they were living anyway. However. Many others will become bored and thus their propensity to get into mischief will dramatically increase.
I do not expect these to be interesting times. But. I do believe that this will prove to be a great time for minimalists. Remember that all you have to do to become a minimalist is to focus in tightly on your individual needs.
Clearly, we have entered a time when the collectives are in full control. I have never lived though a period like this so I am at a complete loss in terms of predictions about how this experiment will turn out for individuals, groups, communities, and nations.
However. As a minimalist I will adjust my thinking, habits, and beliefs in ways that allow me to live as much of my life as independent entity as is possible.
Rest assured that my thinking will be beyond corruption by any form of collective group think. My habits will adjust to comply, or to oppose, the new laws that will come. And my beliefs will remain based firmly upon the needs of the individual as a priority above those of the collective.
Richard.
