Newminimalists are unique individuals.
We need more individuality in the world but that is not what we are likely to get in 2020.
Instead we see more and more and more "group think" which is the opposite of individual thought, action, and belief. In turn, it seems that the new normal is a world where the culture of individuality is being "cancelled" [see photo].
Because I lament this trend towards collectives and "group think"; I urge you to reconnect with your unique version of individuality. To do this all you need do is follow this simple process. Examine what you think. Dismiss those that are not strongly connected to your individual needs. It is your inner voice that reveals what you think and why you think the way you do. Over time you curate a set of mind-tapes that frames your thinking. If you find no obvious issues with your curated mind-tapes then you need to closely examine your actions. These actions form patterns which we call habits. If your habits are good fit with those of the collective around you that is not a concern: unless, or until, you have no habits that you can call your own. Finally, your framework for thoughts and actions is formed by your beliefs. And some of those beliefs have gone unchecked for most of your life. Then there are others that are newly forming but these equally need a solid review in 2020.
Compare your individual thoughts, actions, and beliefs with those of the collective or mob. The collective think alike [group think], they act the same [form long queues for a daily shot of coffee], and they have common beliefs [ideologies and theologies].
The good news is that your individuality can save you from the worst affects of the turmoil in the world today. All you must do is rediscover what it is that unique and precious about you.
