We all live in a world that is imploding before our eyes; but, most people can not see this decay because they lack imagination, discipline, and charisma [see photo].
We lose our imagination when we stop being an individual and begin "going along to get along". We chant slogans rather than imagine solutions to mundane issues and problems. When we chant these slogans we feel and instant bond with those who are also denouncing our traditions, heritage, and social progress. We feel like tearing it all down. We feel like stomping on those who oppose our mob. And so we replace our imagination with anger.
We lose any pretence of self-discipline when we surrender our sense of accountability for our actions. We become ill-disciplined inside the mob because in there we seek to hold others [those evil folks] accountable for all that wrong with our world. We swap out our personal sense of accountability for our issues, problems, and deficiencies for the comfort of being one of "us" and a hater of all of "them".
We deny ourselves the natural advantage of having charisma when we deny our individualism and instead seek to blend into the collective, group, or mob. To be an individual today is to be charismatic in the sense that you stand as a beacon of light for those who have become lost in the maze of confusion and doubt that comes with being part of any collective. The hurdle for those with natural charisma is high, wide, and full of spikes because the collective is not your friend if, and when, you decide to go it alone. But once you find some quiet time for yourself your charisma button will automatically switch on and you will be free to lead other rather than simply follow all the other lemmings over the cliff.
Richard.
