"Follow your passion and be happy"....

Colour and movement always grabs my attention.

"Follow your passion and you will be happy".. I am calling bullshit on that meme.

Passion is what makes people riot in the streets because they can not fix Climate Change. Passion is what makes people try to stop others from speaking their truth. Passion is what makes people inculcate a 5 year old with their vision of him, her, or they as the portal to a happier life. Passion is what creates the type of "colour and movement" {see photo] that draws one's attention to a social cause, street march, youtube video, cult lifestyle, political movement, etc. Passion is the real asset on display when GaryVee is on stage cursing his way through another key note speech. Passion attracts attention to a person, event, movement, meme, etc but it does not automatically ignite one's happiness gene.

Follow your passion is a ruse because it inevitably draws people [most of whom are inherently miserable] to seek attention in a crowd. Passion is the key reason people feel alone in a crowd that they were so desperate to join. Passion is what leads most people to the personal experience of unrequited hope. Passion for the plight of others is a form of selflessness that leads one to denounce individual needs and to embrace collective wants.

Here is an alternative thought for you to contemplate. Happiness surges within you once you meet your needs.
