Jon Ive, the Chief Designer, at Apple Inc is moving on. However. Life at Apple will be much the same as it was yesterday because Ive has been 'moving on' since around 2015. His last passion in consumer products was perhaps the Apple watch. Then he moved on to sorting out design details for the new Apple Compound. Now he is heading off to do other things.
Ive recently said in an answer to a question about what he had learnt from Steve Jobs that is was the ability to 'focus'. He went on to say that 'focus' is what keeps you going on a product, or mission, when all seems lost.
This was the case for him and his team with the iPhone. The iPhone almost never happened because the team could not solve a clutch of related issues. They had almost given the whole thing away but their 'focus' on it was held by what they intended the iPhone to become. Thus it was their 'focus' on the outcome that sustained them until they came up with the solutions to their issues.
Most of us have hours, days, months, years, decades when we lack the discipline to stay focused in on the expected outcomes of our toil. In these periods our world appears to be little more than a wild stream of 'colour and movement' [see photo].
