We need the dreamers as a bulwark against society's steady slide towards stagnation [see photo]. Dreamers are risk takers simply because they dare to dream in a world that lauds those who seek to control us, limit our impact on the world around us, and ultimately turn us into compliant human robots.
Dreamers are the risk takers we need to help us create, innovate, and ideate. I remember going to Google in Mountain View to plead with them to resist their apparent urge to recruit the "best and brightest" management talent from Ivy League Colleges. I told them this would be a mistake because it would kill the dream and the dreamers who protect its purity.
However as a "social entity" we must understand what risks we take when we back the dreamers and what risks we take if we do not back them and their dreams. What are the most appropriate rules, regulations, and restraints for the dreamers?
It is time for each and everyone of us to take stock. How many dreamers do you have around you in your daily life? What are you doing to support these dreamers? How can you learn to imagine, dream, and innovate like those dreamers around you?
Richard.
