Disruption and you....

Newminimalism promotes *originality *discipline *creativity *loyalty *less fluff

Overturning conventions shake up the marketplace

Disruption has two sides to it. The one you are on and the other which is opposed to you. For example, if your HR unit is currently pushing "woke-ness" through your organisation and you agree with it then for you it is not disruptive. Indeed for employees who live in a "woke" society these types of reforms in the workplace will help you to sync the rules at work with those at home. But. If you are not "woke", or in favour of "woke-ness", then this imposition upon you in the workplace is disruptive. You are unlikely to become less competent at what you do, however, you will gradually become dysfunctionally disconnected from colleagues and thus a far less effective actor in your workplace.

Disruption is message about where and why you are no longer a good fit with the content, and context, of the work you rely upon to earn a living wage. The root causes of disruption is assumed to be technology but in a post-2020 world it will more likely be driven by social factors. Many of you are individuals who are trapped in a society that is moving swiftly to adopt the values, mores, and rules of some form of collective. And if you are comfortable with all those changes then you will tend to favour the version of disruption that is directed at your current, or former colleagues, not at you.

Disruption impacts individuals who are not part of the power Elite [for example "woke" HR staff] who are determined to empower "sameness" not "difference".

Disruption occurs in many different ways [see photo] and that is why you can choose how it impacts on you. You can choose if you will be adversely impacted by disruption ["woke-ness" and AI automation] or become a beneficiary of a complex system that is changing in ways that are against your perceived "best interests". Let's be real about "woke-ness" for a moment - it is not going away and it will continue to be disruptive for many individuals as the collectives shut them out of most contemporary conversations about power and influence. Thus workplaces will likely be at the coalface of social change for the next few years.

Disruption can be a blessing in disguise for you as an individual. When the collective is moving as a mob to impact your role in a workplace with new rules about language, social cohesion, bias training, etc then you can learn from "them" what not to do. If you need to remain tethered to a workplace that is disruptive for you then you should make it a challenge for you to survive it while not being brainwashed by it.

Disruption is coming and many of you - like me - may need to realign your approach to life [habits, beliefs, etc]. I have done this by becoming what I refer to as a "Newminimalist" which means that I place individual needs above collective wants.
