We live in an upside-down-world where to be considered to be normal one must be highly delusional [see photo]. In a sense we live in a fantasy world that is full of stories which appeal to us, anger us, or remain meaningless to us.
Of course a fantasy-based state of mind has always been an important part of the human coping measures required to live on this planet. If that statement is true then what is it that is different in 2021 to say 1862. Perhaps the difference is we all live inside our heads [in 2021] more than our ancestors did [in 1862].
Remember in 1862 Lewis Carrol first told the Liddel girls a story [about a little girl who tumbled into Wonderland] while casually punting in and around Oxford. The girls loved this story so much [especially Alice Liddel] that they urged Carrol to write it down. He did just that and his book was first published in November 1865. As we know this fantasy became a legacy book that is still read to children. Perhaps this story is so appealing to kids because it is full of delusion, illusion, and distorted reality. Kids back in 1865 stood on the threshold of adulthood in the early stages of The Industrial Revolution - meanwhile kids in 2021 stand on the threshold of adulthood in the early stages of The Virtual Revolution.
The Virtual Revolution has begun and this fact presents a massive challenge for kids, adults, grand parents, et al because what was once tangible is now virtual. Let me explain what I mean here by presenting a poetic riff composed by my White Rabbit whose name is Shelley Bruce. She is trying to explain the difference between the world of objects and the new world of delusions, illusions, and distorted reality.
Walls
By Shelley Bruce
Historically the great walls were formed to keep the hordes out
Today the walls are formed to keep the hordes in
Historically the great walls were built with stones
Today they are built with opinions
Historically the great walls were circumvented by new technologies
Today they are propagated by new technologies
Historically the great walls signalled progress
Today they signal regress
Historically the great walls protected communities
Today they constrain communities
Historically the great walls limited ideas, innovation, diversity, etc
Today they limit ideas, innovation, diversity, etc

My mind as a minimalist is developed on a unique sense of what I call minimal-you which, in turn, is based on individual needs not collective wants. For instruction on how to establish your sense of you: go to minimal-you.com and hit the "become a minimalist" button in the banner heading. This will take you to a payment scheme for a 10 day programme that will teach you how to design, enforce, and live with mind filters: these help you to be the best person you can be.
