Newminimalists know who they are and who they can be.
The year 2020 has unexpectedly become a time of crisis for you and me. All of us face new types of health threats, economic discombobulation, and the challenges of self-definition during the current Coronavirus pandemic.
Self-definition is the focus in this riff. In these harsh and hard times perhaps your greatest asset is the fact that you can still laugh at yourself. Ha, ha, ha.... I just had some thoughts about how funny I appear to others and sometimes even to myself. Since I have become a dedicated minimalist I find a lot of the things I formerly was concern about just plain funny. As a truly dedicated Newminimalist [minimal-you.com] I find myself laughing at most 2020 "collective wants" as I focus intensely on my 2021 "individual needs".
The collective is in power around the world and so much of what it wants or wishes for is just plain funny. The funny things are often the direct result of decisions made by a committee. The reason for this outcome is that a committee decision-making process is structured to exclude "the outliners" and their inputs. Naturally these outliners soon become discouraged and leave the room and later leave the workplace in search of a more fulfilling activities. Some may even go off to hone their skills as a unicyclist [see photo]. Of course I offer the example of becoming a unicyclist as a metaphor for you to consider. The point here is for you to hone your unique talents and skills as you find your way into a post-2020 future.
The clear-and-present challenge for each and everyone of us is to define who we are. Once we have a clear expression about who we are: we can proceed to define who we can be.
