Being inside a creative "scrum" is exhilarating, frustrating, exhausting, and the best time one ever can have inside a workplace. This is because creativity is virus that infects those who hang-out with creatives. And the reason that a "creativity virus" injects fun into a workplace is that it is so unpredictable, fragile, fickle, vital, and disruptive.
The "creativity virus" dies in most organisations today. It struggles to survive at Twitter, Google, Facebook, TikTok, GM, Gillette, General Electric, Huawei, BBC, Apple, etc. Creativity not longer grows organically inside those workplaces because management has decided to buy it off-the-shelve and then onboard it. However. Within some of those stagnant organisation there is a pocket or two of creativity that could become a "stand alone" business and help to shape the future of global business. Two good examples of future stand alone creative businesses are "The DeepMind for Google Team" and the "ApplePay Team".
Of course the "creativity virus" is juice for future failure and success. The great thing is that creative ideas tend to fail fast and so people who present them see that and move on swiftly. Some creative thoughts fail yet the spin-off ideas lead us onto a huge success. Some creative thoughts are successful and are then competently built-out in ways that change all our lives.
The "creativity virus" is currently hibernating but it will soon be active again. The reason the "creativity virus" is awakening is clear. Life in many workplaces is loaded with "group think".
